Getting Involved At Harvard-Westlake

By Julia ’25

A great way to meet new people and make new friends is to get involved in one of the many programs and activities offered to students at Harvard-Westlake. There are a multitude of ways to get involved in this large and diverse school such as performing arts, various clubs, sports teams, student government, the Student Ambassador Program, and more.

A fun and exciting way to get involved at Harvard-Westlake is to take a performing arts class or join a production group. Performing Arts classes at Harvard-Westlake produce wonderful musicals, shows, concerts, and plays. Students are given the opportunity to express themselves through music, acting, and dance, by creating entertainment for their fellow peers to enjoy.  A fun way to celebrate the performers and their hard work is to show your support by attending the show with friends.

Trying out or even joining a sports team is a simple way to connect with a group of people. Each season there are a plethora of sports from which to choose, including some that have no cuts. Students are encouraged to try their hand at new sports, in addition to ones that they have already participated in. Attending the games and showing support for your Harvard-Westlake Wolverines is also a great way to exhibit school spirit and motivate the players.

Clubs at Harvard-Westlake are accessible to students, teachers, and faculty members. You may join or start a club at any time, and it is a simple way to meet people with common interests. From affinity groups such as the Black Leadership Awareness and Culture Club and the Japanese American Language and Culture Club, to TV clubs such as the FRIENDS club and The Office club, to miscellaneous clubs such as the Gardening club and the Space club, there are clubs to suit all interests and passions.
