Winter Week Fun

By Sydney ’29

Though Harvard-Westlake doesn’t have official midterms on the middle school campus, units often culminate around the same time, causing the weeks leading up to Winter Break to be a stressful one; filled with projects, tests, and teacher comment reports. Thankfully, its an HW tradition to celebrate Winter Week during this time, to alleviate student stress with fun activities.

Leading up to Winter Break, students participated in many fun events, including a puppy petting visit from Healthy Dogs, advisory bingo games, music themed outfit day, a choral concert teaser from the 5 different middle school choirs, a special performance of Christmas music with DJ Kono, festive foods in the cafeteria, Buddy the Wolverine passing out candy, and a day full of Christmas movie watching!

Clubs and affinity groups also often celebrate the holidays early, such as a gift trade at BLACC, karaoke in AACC, cookie decorating, a hot cocoa bar, and a showing of the Grinch from the HWCC, and a dreidel spinning competition hosted by Jewish Club.

These events serve as a way to unwind and destress to care for our mental health as we enter the holiday season, before we resume school in the New Year.
